The ‘Big One’ preparation: MMDA to open disaster response training center
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is eyeing the establishment of a training center for disaster preparedness in a bid to train as many responders on properly dealing with adverse situations emanating from natural calamities especially in the National Capital Region.
MMDA chairperson Romando Artes said the MMDA Disaster Preparedness Training Center will provide instruction to help emergency and calamity responders prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
He said the enter, with a lot area of more than one hectare, will be furnished with the necessary facilities, and tools to provide participants with an experiential learning opportunity.
It will be built on a vacant property of the MMDA at the Carmona Sanitary Landfill in Cavite City.
