Typhoon Betty (Mawar), the Philippines’ second tropical cyclone for 2023, is projected to affect parts of Northern Luzon in the final days of May. Even though the typhoon is unlikely to make landfall, it still poses a threat. At its peak, Betty was a super typhoon.
Betty is also expected to enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat, which may trigger rain in parts of Luzon and Western Visayas.

Batanes prepares for Betty
The Batanes provincial government said in a Facebook post on Sunday, May 28, that the entire province is ready for Typhoon Betty (Mawar).
As of Sunday afternoon, more than 6,000 family food packs have been prepositioned in Batanes’ six municipalities. All designated evacuation centers an
