Monsoon rains expected in parts of Luzon – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rains are expected over the Ilocos Region and Zambales because of a southwesterly wind flow or the southwest monsoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The weather bureau on Thursday said in its 11 a.m. advisory that these areas will be expecting rains of 50 to 100 millimeters.

“Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall
