Journey Theater seeks performers for ‘Singin’ in the Rain’

The community theater will hold auditions in March to cast its production based on the 1952 movie, with performances set for this summer

Journey Community Theater is asking for performers to audition for its summer production of Singin’ in the Rain.

The theater is seeking performers ages 13 and older, and is looking for tappers/actors/singers to play featured roles and actors, dancers, and singers to play multiple ensemble roles. Performers should prepare 16 bars of a musical theater song that showcases vocal range and technical ability. (Please bring a downloaded instrumental backing track. No streaming.) If auditioning for a specific role, please be familiar with songs from the show as you might be asked to sing a selection at auditions.

Auditions will be held, by appointment only, March 22 and 25. Call backs, by invitation, are April 12. Auditions will be closed.

Rehearsals will run from June 13 through July 18 on Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m, and select Thursdays evenings. Performances will be held at Manor Church in Battle Ground from July 25 through Aug. 2.

All those who are auditioning are required to bring a current headshot and resume.

There is a $100 per cast member production fee. Each cast member must be represented by a volunteer production committee member (to serve on costumes, sets, props, refreshments, programs, public relations, etc). Volunteers will receive a ticket for a performance.

This production is based on the 1952 MGM Film starring Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, and Debbie Reynolds.

Journey Theater’s production will be directed by Beka Hardt, with music direction by Amy Forstrom, and choreography by Chelsea Nicole Lapp.
